Good old Johann Wolfgang von Goethe once said "There are two things children should get: roots and wings“. Don’t worry, this is not going to be a crash course in German literature. But this quote sums up nicely what the youth work of the Red Hocks accomplishes.
Why Floorball of all choices? Because we think there is no better sport. It is fast-paced, intensive, and offers the players so much creativity. To sum it up: it’s hard to find a more enjoyable sport. What’s more is that as a beginner you’ll learn it in a heartbeat and make progress extremely fast. After only a few practices you’ll feel right at home. Besides sports clothes and indoor court shoes you don’t need any equipment to start – we provide everything for you. Only when you decided to join the team, you’ll need your own stick and safety glasses. But that is all you need as a floorball player. If you think that being a goalie between the pipes is your calling, there’s a little more equipment you’ll need but compared to other sports, it’s still a reasonable investment.
No one plays better Floorball in Southern Germany than us. Through our dedication on and off the field, we grew wings and soared to new heights in more than one occasion. Being committed pays off. The proof for this? Our first team now has been a part of the 1. Bundesliga for seven years in a row, while our youth teams aren’t any less successful: two national titles and in the summer of 2018 alone speak volumes. The U15’s team even managed to win the title in their hometown in front of 500 fans. Our wings are carrying us. But crashes are also a part of the nature of sports – defeats are inevitable. The most important thing is however, to learn and get up again.
Your roots are what can help you to recover from these crashes. If you know where you come from, you know where you are going. These are the values – commitment on the field and for the team and the whole club – we are practicing and we aim to convey to every member of the club.
